Free Press Houston is proud to announce the return of Day For Night, a two day experiential music and art festival featuring world class musicians as well as leaders in various disciplines of digital art. Taking place on December 17 and 18, the festival combines headlining musicians with immersive art installations, transforming live music production by introducing new sensory experiences to the festival landscape.
The historic Barbara Jordan Post Office at 401 Franklin Street, modeled by the same architects who designed the Astrodome, will be the setting for the hyper-sensory festival. The 1.5 million square foot hybrid indoor-outdoor space will house three massive stages for internationally renowned performers, as well as immersive art installations by leading visual artists from across the globe, merging art and sound to create a landscape that enriches our musical lineup.
“Day for Night is simultaneously a current snapshot of popular music, as well as a showcase for trailblazers who continue to crossover from fringe to influential,” explains founder Omar Afra. “The focus across multiple musical genres is on acts that specialize in an inventive and highly visual approach to performing.”
The visual artists bring immersive experiences that blur the boundaries between performance and audience interaction both indoors and out. Large scale projections and site-specific custom-built structures bring a heightened sensory experience to new audiences.
“Day For Night piqued our interest and delivered in spades,” hailed Consequence of Sound, and Department of Dance deemed last year’s inaugural event as “the festival of the future.”
With 2015 headliners Kendrick Lamar and New Order as just two of the festival’s top-tier acts, this year promises both a music and art lineup that will eclipse the impressive offerings at last year’s event.
