The Elephant Room Detroit has exciting plans for a new Movement Electronic Music Festival after-party series, in collaboration with Cut-Line Production, Funky People, Sergio Santos and E. Spleece, to continue the lively celebrations post festival. Taking place at The Elephant Room, the series will bring an artfully curated group of labels and showcases, kicking off on Saturday, May 25th and will continue till the sunny afternoons of Tuesday, May 28th.
However, the weekend finale, hosted by Cut-Line’s own FUNKY PEOPLE NYC is an event to definitely look out for! Established in 2018, FUNKY PEOPLE NYC was created to provide a cozy, feel-good and intimate atmosphere. Founders Sergio Santos Music, Diego Knows and Jeremy Ismael hosted these events throughout New York City, dedicated to celebrate life and music.
For their next installation, they are proud and excited to bring FUNKY PEOPLE NYC to the birthplace of techno, Detroit! They are taking their signature funk and jive on the road and curating a lineup for the people, by the people. The day party opens its doors at 7:00AM on Monday, May 27th until 2:00PM, while the evening event will begin at 10:00PM, and will continue until 2:00PM Tuesday afternoon. Expect to hear some incredible vinyl sets, live instrumentals, live DJ sets, and plenty of local Detroit techno legends.
You’ll see special performances from various talented artists. Especially when Atlanta-based Columbian DJ Tocayo performs his culturally inspired sets, you’ll be dialled into a wave of emotion. This artist has played all around the US and Mexico, in venues such as Tomorrowland Playa Del Carmen and now Detroit. Ryan Dahl, Detroit’s finest, will also be spinning his classics, trancing the crowd into another universe. Also keep an eye out for 3C, a group of young close friends grown into an ever-evolving circle of coming and going brothers. They’ll be performing alongside Dan Wagner and Sutter to completely transform your perspective of a performance. Other exciting artists to celebrate are Jay Prouty, John John and many more.
Not only is the party welcoming an incredible lineup, they make sure the crowd goes home with fun momentos. Throughout the night, giveaways of their iconic pineapple treats will be dispersed among guests, creating a night of fun and intrigue.
