The sun-kissed, blissful paradise of Groove Island promises to be the most exciting new music and vacation experience in the world. On the weekend of September 27th – 30th, 2019, Catalina Island will become a carefully curated celebration of life, positivity, and dance music. Catalina Island is 22 miles off the coast of Los Angeles and is known to be a picture-perfect paradise.
Groove Island
Now, a world-class lineup of headliners and unique hosted stages are revealed and guaranteed to take the escapist gateway to the next level. The cinematic encounter will include renowned artists Andrew Rayel, Chus & Ceballos, Mark Knight, Oliver Heldens, Sam Feldt, Shiba San, and many more. All add to a cultured and colorful house, techno, and trance soundtrack.
Getting to Catalina Island
Getting to Groove Island is easy and fun by sea or by air. Ferries run from four mainland ports in Southern California: San Pedro, Long Beach, Newport Beach, or Dana Point. The ferries take about an hour. In addition, a helicopter ride is just 15 minutes and available from Long Beach, San Pedro, Burbank Airport, and John Wayne Airport. Once on the island, the town of Avalon is easy to navigate by foot as it’s just one square mile so getting anywhere is easy. Shuttle buses can take you to your destination, or you can rent bicycles or one of the island’s iconic golf carts.
Lineup
The world-class headliners making Groove Island so unique are Moldovan superstar Andrew Rayel. Spanish duo Chus & Ceballos are tech titans at the sharp end of the scene, while Mark Knight needs little introduction having been a key player in the UK and global scene for decades. Add in Rotterdam tastemaker Oliver Heldens who is known for spreading his slick vibes and funky rhythms. Furthermore, Dutch deep house hero Sam Feldt, and Frenchman Shiba San will be joining us on Groove Island as well. All in all, you have a stunning lineup.
Venues
The venues for all this action include the sun-drenched Descanso Beach Club, with its uninterrupted ocean views, palm tree lined beaches and luxury teak Chaise Lounges all waiting to welcome you. Also, Groove Island takes over The Catalina Casino, which features the world’s largest circular ballroom right on the seafront at the entry to the harbor. The breathtaking art deco Casino has been a focal point and landmark on the island for over 80 years. It will be the site of the Roaring ‘20s party, one of the six costume themes during Groove Island Sept 27-30.
Catalina Island
In addition to the perfect soundtrack, there is a wealth of elements to explore and enjoy on the famously beautiful island of Catalina. Whet Oasis is a Healing Journey curated by DJ Taz Rashid, consisting of interactive workshops. Workshops include meditation, yoga, poetry, a 3D sound experience, and much more to expand your mind and soothe your soul. Additionally, the non-profit Whet Foundation and group of volunteers will partake in community improvement projects. This is a way to give back to the locals of Catalina to thank them for inviting the Whet Travel team and their guests back to Catalina for a fourth time.
