Ringing in the new decade dancing the night away at Decadence Arizona was one for the books. The two-day immersive festival welcomed electronic dance music fans from all across the country to experience 28 world-renowned artists. The festival consisted of three stages; The Grand Pavilion, The Royal Circus, and The Playhouse. The first two held the main artists, while Playhouse featured a silent disco with a wide variety of local artists. Attendees received headphones to tune into their DJ of choice. It was pretty awesome. Decadence Arizona always goes above and beyond with talent. The line up ranged from Diplo, Galantis, Dillon Francis, Illenium, AC Slater, Fisher and many more! Whether you love electronic, house or EDM, there was an option for everyone.
Decadence starts later in the evening, which allows festival-goers the time to explore the city around them. Decadence takes place at Rawhide Western Town and Event Center which is conveniently located in gorgeous Phoenix, Arizona, just a short trip away from the Phoenix Airport. Traveling to and from the festival was simple and straightforward, and made easy with a variety of accommodations to choose from. Lodging options were endless! Outside of the festival, there are mountains to hike and cities to explore are all within range, so if you’ve never visited Phoenix before, then there is much to see and do. If you’re feeling daring, climb Camelback mountain or visit Papago Park for some ‘Mars-like’ landscapes.
DAY 1
Fans lined up hours before the festival opened to secure their spots to see their favorite artists. You could feel the energy radiating off the attendees, it was nothing short of electric! The process to get into the venue was quick and easy. Everything was labeled and visible for attendees to follow.
The biggest names of the night to perform included AC Slater, Tchami X Malaa, Dillion Francis and Illenium. Relentless Beats did an immaculate job booking a diverse group of talent to accommodate all the festival-goers. AC Slater also known as “The King of Heavy Bass House,” was the first artist to perform in the Grand Pavillion. He brought the vibes with his “Night Bass” sound, and sprinkles of old-school rave beats.
Tchami X Malaa “No Redemption” set brought the audience to another dimension. The sweeping strobe lights and hypnotic visuals were unlike anything I’ve ever seen. This was my first time seeing them, and I can assure you it won’t be the last!
You can’t have Dillion Francis without Gerald the famous rainbow pinata! Dillon’s set was one of my favorites! He got the crowd on their feet, playing all his most popular songs like “Get Low” ft. DJ Snake to his most recent hit “GO OFF (Nuffin’ 2 It). If you want a daily dose of hilarious content, make sure to follow Dillion and his videographer Moses Alexander on IG (trust me!). Illenium never fails to put on an incredible performance, but this time was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.
The set consisted of all live instruments which gave the audience an incredibly immersive experience. It truly felt like he was creating the music we all love right before our eyes! The drummer, pianist, vocalists, and Illenium himself all played concurrently replicating each song flawlessly.
DAY 2
Thomas Wesley Pentz, predominantly known as Diplo, gave us a real treat! His eccentric personality was represented throughout his set. Of course, his symbolic cowboy hat made an appearance!
Galantis set was the perfect way to say farewell to 2019, and “Runaway” to the new year. All you saw looking into the crowd was pure exuberance.
Directly after to ring in the new year was Joyride! He most certainly brought us into 2020 on a Joyride!
Evangeline’s Tips & Tricks
- Arrive 30 minutes before doors open! The show starts later in the evening, and the first set comes on immediately. You never hear someone say they regret coming early. You know what they say, “early is on time, on time is late, and late is…”
- Make sure to check the weather before you leave. Even though Arizona is a desert, it still gets chilly at night!
- Wear comfortable shoes. I know everyone says this, but seriously, you will thank yourself later.
- CALL AN UBER/LYFT 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOU LEAVE!
As much as you want to stay until the very end, you will regret it. Unless you drove your own car, take my word for it. - Explore all the sponsored areas that the venue has. This year, RAW Rolling Papers and Titos were handing out free merch! We love anything that says FREE!
