Canadian three-piece Keys N Krates teamed up with Canadian mobile phone provider Fido to release their first single of 2015 titled “Save Me” featuring UK songstress Katy B. A pulsating masterpiece of bouncing beats that melds together pitched up vocals with multi-layered percussion lines, “Save Me” will soundtrack the world’s first location-based mobile music video created by Fido.
Directed by award-winning Vania Heymann, and packed with the work of hundreds of Canadian artists and photographers from coast to coast, this music video literally brings Keys N Krates to you, wherever you are, right on your phone, and lets you make it your own. By sharing a user’s location, the #MobileMusicVideo randomly curates new content from wherever they are in Canada, creating a hyper local version of the video and a completely unique experience every time one watches it.
The #MobileMusicVideo will premiere on June 12 at Bestival in Toronto where Keys N Krates will be one of the headliners. Known for their hallmark blend of hip-hop infused electronic beats, Keys N Krates have proven to be one of dance music’s most unconventional juggernauts. The trio comprised of a drummer, turntablist and synthesizer/keyboardist has spent the last seven years bulldozing their way past DJ-driven comfort zones and onto global dance floors as paragons of shape-shifting productions.
Keys N Krates catapulted to fame after their 2013 hit “Dum Dee Dum” sold 200K downloads and its official music video racked up 5 million YouTube views to date. The three-piece steamrolled through 2014 with a headlining national tour and the Dim Mak release of their six-track Every Nite EP which peaked at #2 on iTunes’ Top Electronic Albums chart last September. The trio subsequently released Every Nite (The Remixes) last December, featuring an eclectic selection of reworks from Machinedrum, Darq E Freaker, Chris Lorenzo, Taiki Nulight and R3II.
The festival favorites have taken center stage at events such as Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo, Ultra Music Festival, Osheaga and Sonar Festival to name a few, and this year made their debuts at Coachella and Hangout. Still to come in 2015 are performances at Tomorrowland, EDC Vegas and Electric Zoo, as well as their fifth EP due out this fall.
We love this innovative idea, and dig the song too (listen on Soundcloud below). Won’t be at Bestival, but want to catch them live? Tour dates are below!
