FARMBOROUGH TAKES NEW YORK CITY: COUNTRY MUSIC SUPERSTARS DIERKS BENTLEY, LUKE BRYAN, BRAD PAISLEY AND MORE LAUNCH FESTIVAL’S FIRST YEAR
Three-Day Country Music Festival Infiltrates Randall’s Island With Explosive Performances,
New York City hosted its first-ever country music festival this past weekend, as the inaugural FarmBorough, a collaboration between Live Nation Entertainment and Founders Entertainment, took over Randall’s Island with over 40,000 fans in attendance.
FarmBorough kicked off the three-day, two-stage festival taking over New York City’s Central Park on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series, with a performance by Friday’s headliner Dierks Bentley, as well as guests Kip Moore, Maddie & Tae and Canaan Smith getting a preview of some of the festival’s food trucks and more before heading down to Randall’s Island to kick off the festival’s first night “with thousands lounging on the grounds, eating barbecue and singing along with acts” – Associated Press.
With the festival’s first year in full swing on Saturday, “for both a genre and a city, it’s a milestone” noted The Star Ledger, and as a testament to the city’s loyal country music following, fans powered through an onslaught of rain to enjoy Saturday’s headliner Brad Paisley who kept fans spirits high throughout his set including a spine-tingling collaboration of “Whiskey Lullaby” with earlier performer Mickey Guyton.
With fans enjoying the festival’s multiple onsite activities including a giant inflatable slide and Skyhawk Swing throughout the day on Sunday, headliner Luke Bryan closed out the night with a hit-filled set, as Village Voice heralded the festival’s diverse lineup commenting “FarmBorough aligns chart toppers like Bryan with household names like Dwight Yoakam and those innovating within the framework of a more traditional sound, like Jon Pardi and Sturgill Simpson.”
“This weekend was a dream come true,” said Brian O’ Connell Live Nation President of Country Touring. “It really doesn’t get bigger than New York City and the way that the country community here and those who travelled to get here, took a chance on us and embraced FarmBorough in its first year has astounded me. I can’t say it enough how thankful I am to all the fans and the artists who joined in with me on this.”
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the success of FarmBorough’s inaugural year,” said Co-founder and Partner at Founders Entertainment, Jordan Wolowitz. “New York City fully embraced the Country community and FarmBorough proved that it’s here to say. We can’t wait for 2016!”
