Overjoy’s Breakfast EP is melodic, bouncy goodness

Listened to Overjoy’s latest Breakfast EP over breakfast this morning, and decided if you’re not starting your day with this mix, you’re doing it wrong. Dreamy, soothing vocals paired with housey beats and hypnotic cadence evokes the feeling of brunch after a perfect night out.

Released Friday on Australia’s Sweat It Out! label, the Los Angeles-based three-piece’s debut EP spellbinds listeners into a lush sonic cocoon of empyrean synth work and cinematic rhythms driven by Lex Famous’ hypnotic, lovelorn croons. “Airport Song” is an ode to finding fleeting love with a stranger while waiting for a flight, while “Love For Breakfast” tells a modern tale at unrequited love.

The outfit of longtime friends initially linked up with Sweat It Out! to release their inaugural single “Monstrous” via the imprint’s Club Sweat sub-label last year. Since then Overjoy has released a handful of singles that’s won praise from tastemaker stations like Rinse FM, Triple J, KCRW and Night Flight as well as support from artists like Tommy Trash and Bag Raiders.

Check out the EP below, happy listening!
