The boys of GTA, Julio Mejia and Matt Toth, are kicking off the year in their usual genre-less fashion. Following what most consider their biggest year to date, GTA looks set to enter 2016 in the same vein, with the release of “MY Mamacita’ featuring Georgia-based rapper, Rich The Kid. This latest slice of hard-hitting, genre-defying dance music is available now as a free download via BitTorrent.
The track quickly swirls into a larger-than-life trap anthem, thanks in large part to the pitched out, horn-infused drop, alongside scattered deep bass kicks. After their highly successful “Goons Take America’” Tour together, GTA and Rich The Kid hit the studio for their first ever collaboration. Everything GTA does—both on stage and in the studio—is unified by a simple mission statement: death to genres. Their mission is obvious with this new track; the duo delivers yet another perfect crossover between a rap and electronic sound. GTA sets are musical joyrides, as they speed from trap to hip-hop into booming electro, taking unexpected detours with rock and R&B, and screeching to a halt for massive bass drops. Ever since last year’s track ‘Red Lips’ earned support from Skrillex, Dillon Francis, Jack Ü and countless others, the duo has garnered love from all across the globe. Adding further to their repertoire of fans, GTA recently won the nod from NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony, as “My Mamacita” was synched with the video announcement of the NBA All Star East players.
Positioning themselves as new-wave tastemakers, GTA is paving the way for genre-free music to stand at the forefront. With brand new bookings, a string of releases, and plenty more in the pipeline for the coming year, GTA looks primed for yet another career-defining year.
