Camp Bisco Preview and Travel Guide

Camp Bisco

Camp Bisco is a three day festival taking place at Montage Mountain water park in Scranton PA from July 13th to 15th featuring the renowned jam band The Disco Biscuits headlining each night, playing a total of six sets. Bisco is a lesser known festival, a hidden gem taking place at Montage Mountain (a waterpark that allows you to watch music from places like a wave pool and lazy river). This is a festival for those old school dead heads who yearn for the jam band experience, as well as millennials who love the bass-ed out vibes of DJ’s like Bassnectar.
*Fun fact! Scranton is where the hit show The Office takes place!

The Lineup for 2017

The Lineup

Camp Bisco has consistently delivered a premiere and eclectic lineup since its inception in 1999. The lineup is extensive with artists like (of course) The Biscuits, but also Pretty Lights (who’s influential and layered club material attracts a large crowd), Action Bronson (rapper and also former chef), Griz (who refers to his music as ‘future funk’ and puts on an incredible live show), and up and coming artists like The Floozies. This lineup has something for everyone.
For those of you who are not familiar with Disco Biscuits the band seamlessly melds jam and electronic. This has allowed Camp Bisco to book such a diverse lineup with genres ranging from jam bands, funk, EDM, and hip hop.
Other artists featured on this years lineup include Sphongle (who’s debut US performance was at Camp Bisco), Thievery Cooperation, Space Jesus (who recently performed at the world famous Coachella Music and Arts festival in Indio CA), Nightmares on Wax, The Knocks, and Goldfish.

Camp Bisco Venue at Montage Mountain

The Venue

The festival takes place at Montage Mountain in beautiful Scranton, PA. Comparable to amphitheaters like The Red Rocks in Morrison CO, and The Gorge in George, WA, Montage Mountain is a venue that is built in tune with its surrounding nature. Montage Mountain’s versatility ranges from a ski resort in the winter to, more relatively speaking, a water park in the warmer months. The venue extends beyond the three main stages, offering what you might consider a summer camp for the adult festival goer. Take advantage of the full sized volleyball courts, zip line across the festival grounds, or choose to cool off in the lazy river while jamming to your favorite artist. Another pleasant perk of this venue, that never goes unappreciated, are the full access restrooms. A flushing toilet and sink beats the smoldering honey buckets any day.

Camping at Bisco

Where to Stay

The festival does offer travel packages, tent camping, and RV camping. There are also several hotels in the near by area that offer a shuttle to the festival.
If you choose to camp there is an additional 50 dollar charge in order to access the campgrounds. Camping is not car camping, but there is a shuttle that will take you from the parking lot to the camp site.
The hotel included in the travel packages is The Hampton Inn Scranton at Montage Mountain. The hotel is conveniently located next to the airport. Amenities include an indoor pool, a spa tub, and fitness center. Additional features include complimentary wifi internet, an arcade/game room, and a common area. A shuttle pass to the festival is included in the package, but their is also a complementary shuttle to nearby attractions. The Hampton Inn also has a restaurant attached to the hotel.
We chose to book a room in the nearby Comfort Suites. Amenities include free wifi, airport transportation, free weekday newspaper, complimentary coffee, free guest laundry facilities, hot breakfast, restaurant, and a fitness center.
