Last weekend, in the midst of the “Fight of the Weekend” extravaganza that suffocated Las Vegas, FestPop took some time to attend David Guetta’s set at the premier day party at Encore Beach Club. By 11am, there were about 300 paying customers ($100+/ticket) still in line awaiting entrance into famed beach party, which was previously named by USA Today “the best Adult Party Pool in the USA.”
It looked to those in attendance that capacity was reached (approximately 3,000 people) within about 90 minutes later, which included twenty-six luxury cabanas and eight exclusive bungalows, one being the playground for the day for near-NBA basketball MVP Russell Westbrook and his entourage, as well as countless models and of course on this weekend, the uber-rich.
In what could probably be inarguably described as the best day or night party that Las Vegas saw during the historic fight weekend, Guetta came through on fire, primarily due to the enthusiasm and anticipation of the crowd on the biggest sports day of 2015. Guetta’s set included mashed up versions of “Baby When the Light” and “When Love Takes Over” that spanned trap/hip-hop, reggae, and classic funk/soul. The loudest ovations came for the Nicki Minaj assisted “Hey Mama” smashed into house remixes of the top tracks off the Drake album, as well as the anthem “Bad” feat Vassy (seen below).
The only thing stopping the party was the waning sun and creeping anticipation of the biggest boxing match in a generation. Guetta’s set on this day would be a formidable match for such a spectacle, and one not soon forgotten by those who had the opportunity to witness it.
