Techno legend Ellen Allien released her seventh studio album, Nost, earlier this year, and it has been receiving nothing but absolute praise ever since. One of the ways her peers have been showing their affection is through a bounty of remixes – on November 24, the second official cluster of reworks will be released on BPitch Control, Ellen’s record label. On duty this time around are Truncate, Gerd Janson, FaltyDL and Kyoka, a diverse and wildly talented bunch, offering their reinterpretations of Ellen’s work.

Truncate starts us off with a deep, stripped-back version of Innocence. Warping the original elements of the track brings about an air of mystery. Paying homage to the early 90s rave scene is Gerd Jansen with his rework of perhaps the biggest song off the album, Call Me. Be instantly transported to a warehouse rave with this banger. FaltyDL cooks up a deep, contemplative, dubby concoction with his remix of Erdmond, and lastly, experimental producer Kyoka offers a very special interpretation of Call Me, giving it a literal twist with woozy, indecipherable vocals and a menacing beat. A big round of applause for both the originals and reworks of these tracks – they are no doubt going to be spoken of as iconic in no time.
