Field Day Announces New Location in South London

Field Day 2018

Field Day just announced the new location for the two-day event in South London this summer. It will take place at London’s iconic Brockwell Park on June 1st and 2nd. Field Day has been an important part of the city’s thriving festival scene with its stand-out programming. Just recently, Lambeth Council revealed that it will work with Field Day to host the event in June.

Throughout the last few years, Field Day has proved itself to be one of the UK’s leading festivals and its commitment to presenting boundary-pushing music for over a decade. Field Day has seen the best of upcoming and iconic artists including Aphex Twin, PJ Harvey, Caribou, Skepta, Patti Smith and Pixies grace its stages in Victoria Park for 11 years.

Last year surpassed all expectations with an insane lineup. There will be a new mammoth stage — The Barn, not to mention mouth-watering food and drink will be offered from London street food legends, Street Feast and Venn Street Market. With the location in a new region of London that is renowned for its a rich cultural and music history. The region has raised leadens including David Bowie to the contemporary artist, Loyle Carner.

Brockwell Park has presented music that has brought people together for Rock Against Racism in 1978, which was headlined by Elvin Costello. Over the years the park has also welcomed musical performances from Madness, The Fall, The Damned, Pete Townsend, Grace Jones, Boy George, Yoko Ono, and friends.

2018 will mark an exciting new chapter for Field Day as it partners with Lambeth Council to bring its much-loved event to Brockwell Park.

Speaking about the exciting move, Field Day co-founder Marcus Weedon said:

“We’re delighted to be hosting Field Day 2018 in south London. We look forward to working with Lambeth Council, residents, local businesses and stakeholder groups to ensure the event in Brockwell Park is a huge success and lay the foundation for what we hope is our home for many years to come. We’ve had 11 incredible and memorable years in Victoria Park and very much look forward to bringing Field Day to Brockwell Park over two days in June.”

Cllr Sonia Winifred, Cabinet Member for Equalities and Culture, said:

“We have engaged with residents, local businesses and other parties. Based on the resulting evaluation we have determined that two new major commercial events and the Lambeth Country Show this summer would be excessive […] Lambeth council will now work with the organisers of Field Day […] which is proposed for June 1, June 2, June 3 to ensure they will be able to deliver a safe event.”
