Insomniac Introduces #WeAreWideAwake Initiative

To Encourage Health and Safety Awareness

Video Features 12th Planet, Afrojack, Arty, Carl Cox, Crizzly, Firebeatz, Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens, Laidback Luke, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and More

Leading up to the 19th annual Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), Las Vegas, Insomniac has created a video entitled “#WeAreWideAwake,” aimed at encouraging everyone in the dance music community to look out for one another and help keep live events safe. The video marks the launch of the company’s #WeAreWideAwake initiative, aimed at inspiring awareness of personal and communal health and safety.

“As human beings, we owe it our fellow brothers and sisters to simply look out for one another.”

The video features the Insomniac team and top artists including 12th Planet, Afrojack, Arty, Carl Cox, Crizzly, Firebeatz, Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens, Laidback Luke, and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Robert and Linell Shapiro of the Brent Shapiro Foundation for Drug and Alcohol Awareness also speak out on behalf of their son Brent, who was lost to a drug and alcohol overdose in 2005. The Shapiros created the foundation that same year in honor of their son. The non-profit organization has partnered with Insomniac since 2013.

“As event producers, it is our duty to ensure the health, happiness and well-being of everyone who attends our shows,” said Pasquale Rotella, the founder and CEO of Insomniac. “As human beings, we owe it our fellow brothers and sisters to simply look out for one another. Being united and wide awake means living life with both eyes open, and working together to make sure we enjoy this wonderful culture safely and responsibly. I want to thank all the artists who took the time to make their voices heard, and I’m proud of our Insomniac family for stepping up and standing behind a message that we all strongly believe in.”

“#WeAreWideAwake” is a call to music lovers around the world to speak up and assist someone in need. You will not get in trouble for trying to help. For fans looking for information on event health and safety, tips can be found on all Insomniac festival sites and social channels. Insomniac festivals also offer free water, shade and “chill zones,” first aid tents and more.
