Hailed as one of today’s best lyricists, J. Cole is touring in support of his fourth album, the Platinum-certified 4 Your Eyez Only. Released exactly two years after Cole’s previous studio album, 4 Your Eyez Only debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in December. The album tells the story of Cole’s slain friend given the pseudonym James McMillian Jr, as he goes from selling crack, to falling in love and starting a family. Following James’ death on “Change”, the final track reveals that the majority of the album is a tape made by James to tell his story to his daughter after he’s gone. Each of its ten tracks has notched a place on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The New York Times hailed it as “one of the year’s most finely drawn [albums],” describing Cole as “a rap star without rap-star trappings, a parallel-universe champion.”

The “4 Your Eyez Only Tour” follows Cole’s 2015 “Forest Hills Drive Tour,” which was the highest-selling hip-hop tour of that year.

Here’s a J. Cole Tour playlist I created that features some of my favorite tracks from J Cole and his opening acts.
