Dimensions Festival Croatia Announces Final Round of Artists

Dimensions - complete lineup flyer

The final artists for Dimensions’ return to Croatia this August have just been revealed as the festival completes its stunning lineup for August 2015.

As the iconic festival returns to Pula for its 4th season, taking over both the jaw-dropping 2000-year old Roman Amphitheatre and the 19th century abandoned Fort Punta Christo in Pula, Dimensions continues to evolve as a pure distillation of electronic music’s finest purveyors from live and DJ-led spheres. No credence is given to passing fads, transient styles and flash-in-the-pans; the festival’s manifesto is to unite only true legends and the next wave of talent rising through the ranks in a celebration of house, techno, disco, jazz, funk, soul, drum and bass and much more, weaving a vibrant spectrum of soundscapes together.

2015 heralds an astounding 35 year career from Juan Atkins, with his recent Digital Solutions album showcasing he is still right at the pinnacle of techno. The Model 500 mastermind is one of the scene’s pivotal luminaries, a true visionary who has helped shape techno’s path right from its very origins to the present. Dimensions was as gutted as anyone present after last year’s very unfortunate cancellation, and is now incredibly proud to announce Underground Resistance presents Timeline live return this summer, back by very popular demand. The Detroit heavyweight collective was founded in the late 1980s, fusing a social, political, and economic content to their uncompromising, blistering music; their shows span hi-tech soul, cosmic jazz-funk, riot disco, timeless electro – and of course lashings and lashings of techno.

Âme’s Kristian Beyer also comes to Dimensions. Inspired by the music of Stevie Wonder, WestEnd Rec, Transmat, Weather Report and Herbie Hancock, he crafts Detroit-influenced deep house and music with beautiful soul into revered sets. Boddika’s esteemed status partly stems from his peerless approach to music, fusing contemporary garage, house and bass sounds to electro, D’n’B and breakbeat, and he is widely credited for reviving a previously stale scene. Swamp 81’s Loefah was originally part of Digital Mystikz, now taking his burgeoning sound through the gears into an experimental, genre-defying phase which still dominates; the Rinse FM stalwart continues to tinker with electronic music’s roots.

The genre-hopping beat-crafter Floating Points returns for a DJ set, as well as performing live at Dimensions’ opening concert; his sublime sounds perfectly encapsulate the festival’s thrillingly mixed ethos. Objekt brings his own techno perspective into the mix, whilst galactic funk beat-master Space Dimension Controller also joins the festival; Croatia’s very own producers and DJs Petar Dundov and Ilija Rudman, two of the country’s most important and acclaimed contributors to its continuing growth across techno, house and disco, also perform.

Canadian trio BADBADNOTGOOD have already made a name for themselves with their retro fusion of jazz and hip-hop: their music dances across genres to spellbinding effect. Slum Village collaborator and The Bling 47 Group label founder Waajeed is one of Detroit’s finest producers. Drum and bass icon Randall steps up to Dimensions, whist Eliphino’s sets incorporate eclectic sounds from a wide range of influences joining the dots between hip- hop, house, jungle, techno and beyond. And Kutmah is one of the founders of the LA beat scene with Sketchbook, with strong links to Brainfeeder, Stones Throw and NTS, a master craftsman whose appearances are all too rare.

Dimensions is also all about introducing new talent who span a kaleidoscopic range of influences. Mo Kolours, a Mauritian-English producer, singer and percussionist, flits between soul, funk and reggae. Brand New Wayo is a collective bringing up front music from new artists alongside classic and obscure records from decades passed, spanning dub to jazz to hip hop via UK garage, disco, Afrobeat and the cosmos. NTS regular Moxie champions house, techno, grime, hip-hop and disco, whilst Adesse Versions continues to produce ear-catching re-edits, reaching Derrick May, Larry Heard and Gilles Peterson and many more key figures. Afriquoi are an underground sensation, an uplifting fusion of African music and live electronics combining Gambian kora, Congolese guitar and Mandinka percussion styles with electronic music drawing on house, soca, hiphop, soul and jungle to create something entirely unique. And Nao is a UK-based soul singer who recently supported Little Dragon on their UK tour.
