The third installment of Electric Island, Toronto’s favorite underground music festival, gets underway on Monday, August 7 with the Civic Holiday edition. Following the success of the last two Islands, Toronto fans are surely looking forward to part three.
Line-Up Details
In particular, the artists set to play Civic Holiday edition offer a little bit of everything. First and foremost is the Island’s headliner, Nina Kraviz. Born in Russia, Kraviz is an adamant crate-digger with a keen ear for seductive, upbeat house and techno. Kraviz is also the founder of popular German record label, Trip. Plus, in addition to sexy beats, Kraviz is also known for her sexy dance moves as she rocks the decks.
Moving on, this round will also feature jungle funk master, KiNK. Hailing from Sofia, Bulgaria, KiNK is an experimental DJ with an affinity for hammering tech-house. As well, Berlin’s Mano Le Tough and his self-proclaimed “apocalyptic calypso house” will be gracing the Electric Island stage this time around.
In addition, Glasgow’s Jackmaster brings life to forgotten disco tracks, and locals Jonathon Rosa and Nature of Music represent a handful of Toronto talent by opening the event.
However, that’s only stage one. This is the first year where Electric Island has curated an additional platform for music.
Headlining the second stage is electronic soul DJ, Deetron, whose techno productions embody the soul of Detroit. Also performing on stage two is modern-funk guru, DaM-FunK, aka the torchbearer of the modern funk movement. Finally, local support on the second stage comes by way of Greg Gow, Addy, and and Jeremy Stott.
Now, when you pair two stages of electronic music with food trucks, dancers, special effects, and activities, you get Toronto’s greatest day-long, underground showcase. You don’t want to miss out! .
