ICYMI: Boston Calling 2016 Releases Full Weekend Schedule

Boston Calling

Boston Calling

In case you missed it, Boston Calling revealed its schedule and released a limited number of single day tickets for Saturday May 28, 2016 and Sunday May 29, 2016. After performances by Sia and Sufjan Stevens on Friday night, iconic Swedish pop star Robyn will headline Saturday and English electronic brother duo and 2016 Grammy Award nominee Disclosure will close the festival on Sunday, with their first Boston performance in several years. All performance times will be revealed at a later date.  Boston Calling will be held at Boston’s City Hall Plaza on May 27, 28and 29, 2016.

Boston Calling will feature performances that span the spectrum from electronic and rock to R&B and indie pop. Lisa Hannigan and Aaron Dessner will be playing on Friday, whereas Saturday will feature the likes of ODESZA, Miike SnowCity and Colour, Courtney Barnett and BØRNS. On Sunday attendees will see performances from Haim, Janelle Monáe, Elle King, The Front Bottoms and Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires. One of the great aspects of Boston Calling is that it gives local talent the opportunity to use the festival as a platform to get their music out to a larger audience by having two local acts kick off the weekend’s performances. This year the acts will include Allston-based indie rock band Palehound who will open Saturday and hip-hop phenom Michael Christmas of Boston will open Sunday.

Noteworthy enhancements to Boston Calling’s May edition include an intimate third stage featuring comedy and other performances, all of which will be announced in the coming weeks, and an expanded food and beverage program. Boston Calling is partnering with local wine champions, Wine Riot, to create a specially curated wine experience, featuring leading varietals from around the globe. Samuel Adams will once again be providing craft beers and ciders throughout the festival grounds, and Boston Calling is excited to announce that world renowned Danish brewer Mikkeller, who is regarded as one of the highest rated and most sought after brewers in the world, will be producing a custom Boston Calling beer, only available at the festival.

The VIP area will once again offer access to City Hall Courtyard, a 25,000 square foot Mezzanine with prime views of both stages as well as complimentary food by The Citizen Public House & Oyster Bar.
