New festival for Memphis – the Bona Fide Blues Festival October 2 – 3, 2015

Today the Memphis Blues Society announced yet another new festival for Memphis for 2015 – the Bona Fide Blues Festival.

Here’s the Bona Fide Blues Fest by the numbers:

2 – The two day festival will take place October 2 – 3, 2015 at various venues at or near Overton Square.

2 – The Overton Square Tower Courtyard and another stage near Cooper will host free outdoor shows during the festival.

$25 – Friday and Saturday evening indoor show wristbands are $25.

$40 – For $40, you can get a year long membership to the Memphis Blues Society along with your wristband.

40 – There are at leaset forty blues acts scheduled to perform.

100 – All the musicians come strictly from a 100-mile-radius.

1969 – The last year that a regional blues festival was held in Memphis.

While the schedule hasn’t been released yet, the lineup includes folks like Ruby Wilson, the Bo Keys, Steve Selvidge Band, Ghost Town Blues Band, Robert Nighthawk’s Wampus Cats, Eric Hughes Bad, Tyrannosaurus Chicken, Booker Brown, and Miranda Louis with David Hudson. Click here to see the lineup.

The Bona Fide Blues Festival will be family-friendly and the indoor venues will include Lafayette’s, Blue Monkey, Zebra Lounge, Bar Louie, and more. I’ll be sure to update this post with more info as soon as it becomes available.
