Very few people haven’t heard of musician, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and director of music videos, Kanye West. Known for his hits “Gold Digger”, “Stronger”, “Heartless”, but also for some controversial and provocative behavior. Kanye is with no doubt planetary known, however, it seems that he’s not really that popular at the moment.

Soon Glastonbury Festival will take place, June 24-28, and the visitors started a petition for canceling Kanye West’s headline slot at this event! A Change.org petition is asking the festival organizers to kick out West and bring in a rock band. At this moment it passed over 130000 signatures. This fact is almost unbelievable, but is explained by educational worker and rock music lover Lonsdale : “Glastonbury needs upbeat major artists. Glastonbury is an institution. It is expected that it has the biggest names”. “Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world,” reads the petition. “We spend hundreds of pounds to attend ‘Glasto’, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment”.

This has surely caused great shock for Kanye West and therefore he hasn’t commented this online campaign in the media. West is signed on to headline the Saturday portion of the festival, while Foo Fighters will headline Friday night and Lionel Richie the only other confirmed act. What will happen with the festival will soon be known, but one thing is certain, listeners are bored by hollow and meaningless texts. Artists should ask themselves what message they want to send with their songs. People are fed poor quality music created just for the desire of quick profit.
