The 17th Annual Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival has enlisted Rancid, Dropkick Murphys and Refused to headline the 3-day gathering that takes place in downtown Las Vegas. Starting with the first day of late night club shows on May 22nd, and the outdoor festival running from May 23rd through May 25th, 2015, this festival is a chance for punk-rock lovers to party in Sin City!
All legends in their own right, these three bands have over 50 years collectively under their belts and show no signs of slowing down. Rancid sings, “I’m back where I belong, I’ve been gone way too long”! Truer words couldn’t be spoken when we welcome the Bay Area favorites back to Punk Rock Bowling hot off the heals of the release of their first studio album in six years “…Honor Is All We Know”. Dropkick Murphys toured nonstop this fall, and after a much-deserved break for the holidays will be back on the road in early 2015 crisscrossing Europe before returning to the U.S. to play Punk Rock Bowling. Refused are not fucking dead, and will be making their first U.S. appearance since 2012 when they took Coachella by storm. The Swedish punk band’s legendary album “The Shape Of Punk To Come” has made them one of the most influential heavy bands of a generation.
“We are excited to bring Punk Rock Bowling back to downtown Las Vegas which has been our new home for the past 5 years”, says founder Mark Stern. “What better place is there than Vegas for 20,000 punk rockers to travel from all over the world for a weekend of mayhem, bowling, poker, pool parties, late night club shows and of course the best punk rock outdoor festival in N. America. Punk Rock music is a way of life, it’s the unwanted step child, it’s a community unlike any other and this event is a celebration of its existence as one of the most influential forms of music in the past 30 years.”
The outdoor music festival, which will take place at 7th Street and Stewart Avenue, near Las Vegas’ famed Fremont Street, is an all-ages event that features some of the best punk, ska, and hardcore bands from all over the world. Cheap drinks, a wide variety of innovative food options, as well as clothing and music vendors are welcome distractions throughout the day. The fest includes 3 days of outdoor festivals, 4 Nights of Club Shows, a 2-day bowling tournament, Hotel Pool Parties, A Punk Rock Poker tournament and comedy shows to boot, all wrapped up into one amazing weekend in the city that never sleeps.
Other bands include the garage rock devils of Seattle, Murder City Devils, UK’s hardcore punk of Discharge, The Business, Los Angeles’ beloved punk trio, The Muffs, English Ska masters Bad Manners, and from the streets of San Francisco, The Swingin’ Utters. Tickets go on sale in January.
