Sixth Annual Savannah Stopover Welcomes Ra Ra Riot, Porches, + 40 New Additions!

 Savannah Stopover Music Festival

THE FULL 2016 SAVANNAH STOPOVER LINEUP

Savannah, Georgia may be a small, coastal city characterized, for the most part, for its elaborate architecture. It is also home to an awesome festival where avid music lovers both local and from all over, assemble together in the historic district for a weekend showcase of rising talents and indie favorites!

If you thought November’s lineup announcement was already stacked with talent just waiting to be discovered, feast your eyes on the latest additions in the lineup above. The full confirmed lineup for this year’s Savannah Stopover Music Festival was just recently announced – and now with an addition of nearly 50 acts, highlights include: Blitzen Trapper, Prince Rama, The Gotobeds, T. Hardy Morris, Shilpa Ray, Wolkoff, Quiet Hollers, TriathalonMr. Little Jeans, and many, many more. With the additions, there will be almost 100 bands set to take the stage at this year’s 6th annual incarnation of the festival. Unlike most festivals, the bill is not flooded with commercial talent and focus on the mainstream. On the contrary, the festival curates a bill of rising talent, and takes place March 10-12th throughout multiple venues in Savannah’s beautiful downtown Historic District.

RA RA RIOT IS FEELING GOOD ABOUT THIS YEAR AND SO ARE WE!

With the recent passing of their 10 year anniversary just days ago, and a forthcoming follow-up album Need Your Light set for release February 19th, Ra Ra Riot is sure to light up the stage with jams both new and old. Amidst talents such as Ra Ra Riot, Savannah Stopover includes a number of unexplored, yet worthy talents, introducing fans to new music of various genres. Strategically taking place the weekend prior to SXSW, the lineup follows suit, featuring notable up and comers including Porches, Alex G, Diet Cig, PWR BTTM, Mothers, Mass Gothic, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, White Reaper, All Dogs, Twin Limb and many more. While these names may not ring a bell, you definitely won’t want to miss the chance to check them out for yourself, as that is the purpose of the festival.

Savannah Stopover continues to nurture up and coming acts across a varying genres, most of whom are headed to Austin, TX for the SXSW, another haven for those love discovering new music, just a week later. Like SXSW, Stopover has always focused on top emerging talent and has proved to be early festival tastemakers, with previous lineups including then, up-and-coming, and now-famous acts like Grimes, of Montreal, The War on Drugs, among many others, these are not just any rising acts and are sure to be something special.

Nearly 100 bands from across the country and around the world have been selected to perform at this year’s festival, including 12 local Savannah bands to reflect the city’s growing music scene. These artists include Triathalon, Jeff Zagers, Breakers, Curbdogs, Sunglow, Culture Vulture, Twisty Cats, Miquel Moure, COEDS, Sundial Kings and Street Clothes. The fest takes place across a number of venues,.

Unfortunately, Early Bird tickets are now sold out, but General Admission and VIP three-day passes are still available, along with two-day weekend passes (Friday and Saturday) and individual single day passes (all tickets can be found here)–and I wouldn’t sleep on them.

PRO TIP: Make sure to check out the secret parties and shows–you never know who may be playing. As a part of the lineup on Saturday, March 12th, the festival, along with Noisy Ghost PR, plans to host an all-day showcase of record labels, featuring two Savannah-based record labels, Graveface Records and Furious Hooves Records. 3-5 secret shows will also be spread all throughout the weekend. Make sure you stay on your Twitter game because the talent and other info for these shows will be shared via the social platform–BUT, only an hour before the performance is set to begin. So, keep your eyes peeled.
