Australian deejay Tommy Trash, with Platinum records around the world, will top off this annual fundraising beach party of the summer after 10 acts before him, all to raise money for national nonprofit Little Kids Rock, which will use 100 percent of the proceeds to bring music programs, teacher-training, and instruments to underserved public schools in Atlantic City and Philadelphia.
“Tommy Trash combines his signature head-banging and hair-slinging energy with his heartfelt music, which generates amazing crowd interaction, making for an awesome experience,” says Dane Kunkel, BeachGlow’s founder and CEO. “If you haven’t seen him live, you are in for an incredibly exciting performance.”
Tommy Trash has released on labels ranging from Axtone to Fool’s Gold, from Refune to Mau5trap, and from Spinnin’ to Owsla and Boys Noize, including two successive #1 hits on Beatport. Rolling Stone and MTV have marked him out as “One to Watch”.
Ten other acts — from the Netherlands to Canada to the U.S. — will take the stage before Tommy Trash, including Vicetone, Project 46, Lost Kings, Autograf, Synchronice, Jenaux, Dane, Almond, Speaker of the House, and the winner of the College DJ Contest – still to be announced.
“BeachGlow raised $40,000 for the American Red Cross at a sold-out show of 7,000 last year,” says Kunkel. “We’re hoping 10,000 fans will come out this year to experience an amazing day of music, beach games, food, drink, shopping, body painting, and more, so we can help Little Kids Rock ‘spread the glow’ to schools that no longer have music programs as part of their curriculum.”
Little Kids Rock began as a schoolteacher’s vision to give his students access to music education that is relevant to them while diminishing budgets for the arts made that more and more difficult to do. What began as a single after-school guitar class has since exploded into a national movement that is bringing free, weekly, Modern Band music lessons to more than 170,000 public school children due to the efforts of nearly 1,200 teachers nationwide. To date, Little Kids Rock has served over 400,000 students. More information can be found at www.littlekidsrock.org
