World-renowned Ultra Music Festival will return for its nineteenth annual edition on March 24-26, 2017. The internationally acclaimed festival has taken place every March since its inception in 1999, and it continues to get bigger and better with every new year. After much anticipation, Ultra has just released Phase One of its lineup and 2017 will not disappoint!
ULTRA’s unparalleled LIVE offering receives special attention for 2017 as it prepares to welcome some of the biggest names in Electronica, Hip-Hop and Pop to Downtown Miami. Headlining this year are music icons Ice Cube, Major Lazer, The Prodigy, and Underworld and Justice. In addition, Underworld and Justice will be unveiling their brand new live show in the United States for the first time!
Returning to the iconic Main Stage are international DJ headliners and fan favorites Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Axwell^Ingrosso, Dash Berlin, David Guetta, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, Steve Aoki and Tiësto. The Main stage is the site of many performances that have shaped the history of electronic music and formed it into what it is today. You can expect all of the pyrotechnic and sonic grandeur from previous years, and so much more! More artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
RESISTANCE
The 2017 edition of ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL will see its RESISTANCE concept dominate not one, but two huge stages at Bayfront Park as it grows into a festival within the festival, *cue Inception soundtrack*. In addition to welcoming back Arcadia Spectacular’s imposing ‘Spider’ structure across all three days of the event, RESISTANCE recently announced that global ambassador Carl Cox will take over the Megastructure on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25. Following thirteen consecutive years of ‘Carl Cox & Friends’ inside the vaunted arena, the legend himself now issues in a brand new era for ULTRA’s RESISTANCE, ravers across the globe are invited to lay witness to it’s glory & join the fight for good music. 😉
Having unveiled a select few RESISTANCE performers in its Phase One lineup announcement on November 17 (including the U.S. return of Sasha & John Digweed together for the first time since 2010), the World’s Premier Electronic Music Festival now drops the names of thirty-one RESISTANCE acts set to descend upon Downtown Miami in just a few months time.
On the 1st stage, Arcadia’s fire-breathing Spider will welcome house and techno heavyweights including (in alphabetical order) ANNA, Chris Liebing, Dosem, Dubfire, Eats Everything, Hector, Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones, Kölsch, Maceo Plex, The Martinez Brothers, Matador, Matthias Tanzmann, Nic Fanciulli, Reboot, Seth Troxler, Technasia and wAFF. Support comes in the form of Elio Riso, Josefin Rosen and RioTGeaR.
On the 2nd, Carl Cox will helm RESISTANCE’s debut outing in the Megastructure across both Friday and Saturday, where he will be joined by (in alphabetical order) Black Coffee, Joseph Capriati, Marco Carola, The Martinez Brothers, Sasha & John Digweed and Tale of Us, among others. Support comes from B. Traits, Eli & Fur, Jon Rundell and Saeed Younan. More RESISTANCE performers will be unveiled over the coming weeks.

Ultra Live
One thing that makes Ultra special in my opinion is the live stream. The Ultra brands pioneered the live stream experience with ‘ULTRA LIVE’ (bringing the festival online to over 20 million unique viewers globally) and the audio broadcasting platform ‘UMF RADIO’ (syndicated to FM Radio in over 62 countries and reaching more than 22 million listeners weekly). I wasn’t able to attend Ultra last year but was so thankful for the live stream. My roommates and I literally spent the whole weekend on our couch watching every set and felt the good vibes all the way in Oregon. If you can’t make it to the festival the live streams definitely help ease the pain.
