Traveling to Croatia
In early 2011, Croatia signed an Open Air Skies Service Agreement with the US, paving the way for direct flights between the two countries. Or sort of – just because the agreement exists, doesn’t mean there are actually any direct flights in operation, so we recommend calling our expert FestPop travel agents at: 1-877-447-8593 and mention promo code HBC5703
It will most likely be cheaper to fly into the Zagreb Airport, the capital of Croatia, so definitely rent a car! Renting a car in Croatia is really cheap. The FestPop staff rented a car for 5 days and only paid $180. Just be prepared to put down a $1,000 deposit on your credit card. You will be amazed at the beauty of the Croatian country side. Along the highway every 20 miles you will discover these gas stations with cafes attached, instead of fast-food chains like in the US. As you get closer to the Island of Pag make time to visit the Nikola Tesla Museum. Yes, Nikola Tesla was born in Croatia! The museum is easily accessed from the main highway from Zagreb to the Island of Pag by taking the Gospić exit. If you were asleep during high school history class Nikola Tesla patented AC induction motor and transformer which were licensed by George Westinghouse. Serial Entrepreneur, Elon Musk, could not have launched Tesla Motors without Nikola.
Zrce Beach is a cross between Panama City, FL & Lake Mead (Las Vegas, NV), but with 4 mega beach clubs NOA, Papaya, Aquarius and Kalypso. The terrain at Zcre Beach is very similar to Las Vegas’ deserts, but a nice change is the warm ocean water pigmented with hues of dark blue, and green just like Florida’s coast!

Something Fun Before or After the Music Festival
Doing the touristy thing and exploring the island of Pag is a perfect way to start your Croatian vacation. The Croatia National Tourism Board is extremely helpful and informative. One of the tour guides, Bruno Modrusan, helped out members of the FestPop staff during their stay. He is very knowledgeable and professional, so make sure to put in a good word. Thank you Bruno!
The Island of Pag has one of the oldest olive tree yards in the world. The area surrounding Lun, is one of the three locations in the world known for the highest number of wild olive trees (Olea Oleaster). The oldest tree is more than 1500 years old! A part of this amazingly, beautiful scenery is protected, and is known as a botanical reservoir.

Roman Aqueducts and Novalja Town Museum
The most significant monument of Novalja is the ancient Roman Aqueduct from the 1st Century A.D., known as Talijanova buža. Talijanova buža is a long tunnel measuring 1,042 meters carved from rock, which served as a canal to convey water from the Novalja field to the center of the Roman City.
Gligora Cheese Factory Tour
Make sure to stop by the Gligora Cheese Factory and try their delightfully tasty cheese. Paški Sir, is the number one specialty produced at the Gligora Dairy, capturing the strong character of the dry winter wind, with its creamy texture, and yellowish color. This cheese has been described as one of the ten best cheeses in the world!
Produced exclusively from the milk of the Autochthonous sheep, Paški Sir is the most famous ewes’ milk cheese in all of Croatia. This is how the international chefs and sommeliers from the prestigious Culinary Association, the International Taste and Quality Institute, in Brussels described Paški Sir:
“Sirana Gligora Paški Sir is a wonderfully tasteful sheep milk cheese that brings full and complex flavours to the palate and melts nicely in the mouth. Authentic and unique, this cheese is a pure delight and displays quality in the making, leaving a long and pleasant aftertaste to savour. A yellowish creamy colour with farmhouse aromas, Sirana Gligora’s Paški Sir has well balanced texture, taste, aromas and finish and is delightfully tasty. Made from 100% ewes’ milk from the Island of Pag, the quality is in the taste…”

Epilogue
Just last month Team FestPop experienced this epic music festival adventure and the team can’t wait to go back next year, maybe even 2016…. Please do not let the name of the music festival trick you into thinking this is just a college spring break with thousands of college kids. The audience definitely skewed 25+, but there is also an eclectic mix of professionals like Doctors, Lawyers, Professional Athletes (Rugby & Volleyball) and even a handful of US Military servicemen on some R&R. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, start planning ahead, and book your package for 2015! To get a different perspective make sure to look up the #Zcre on Instagram or Twitter, and check out their Facebook page: facebook.com/ZrceSpringBreak and official webpage at www.zrcespringbreak.com
