Over the past decade, Northside Festival has brought 100,000 creative and cultural trendsetters to Brooklyn to discover what’s next in music, innovation, and media. The celebration of the booming local creative community started in 2009. Northside has developed its own magnetic pull. This year, its celebrating its 10th anniversary and hopes to expand on music discovery and innovation.

Northside Music

The 10 year celebration of Northside Music marks 10 years of groundbreaking curation at the forefront of music. For example, Solange headlining her first U.S. festival. Chance the Rapper played his first New York show in a packed Polish disco. In addition, Brian Wilson performed Pet Sounds for 6,000 fans in the heart of Williamsburg’s McCarren Park. In 2017, Northside’s headlining acts included sold-out, heart-stopping shows by Miguel, Dirty Projectors and Thursday and emerging bands Girlpool, Jay Som, Big Thief and electronic producer Jlin.

Northside Innovation plans on bringing together thousands of business and thought leaders to participate in keynote talks, interviews, panels, masterclasses, pitch competitions, immersive VR activations, and evening parties for this years festival. Last year’s diverse and influential speakers included Major Bill de Blasio, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, SNL’s Sasheer Zamata, hotelier Ian Schrager, writer Piper Kerman and Kickstarter CEO Yancey Stickler. The theme of this year’s conference will be “Future Making”. The theme is about highlighting the ideas and people that are driving change in our world. Furthermore, it is how we can use this new way of thinking to make ourselves more future-proof.
