Peace, Love, Unity, Respect: The Rise of Electronic Music Culture in America

It looks like Mysteryland is bringing festival culture back to Bethel Woods! Opening up the museum for the 2015 season, Bethel Woods Center For The Arts announceed Peace, Love, Unity, Respect: The Rise of Electronic Music Culture in America, a special art exhibit inspired by the new sounds and crowds Mysteryland USA has brought to the historic Woodstock grounds at Bethel Woods. Highlighting thirty years of a musical culture, the “PLUR” exhibit will draw connections and relationships across all generations featuring music, lights, interactive festival artworks, costumes, and artifacts from disco, rave, club, an electronic music culture. Presented by The Museum at Bethel Woods and guest curator, Daphne Carr, visitors will learn about the history, aesthetics, and communities that have cultivated electronic music in America. Running through May 31, the exhibit will be open to festival-goers at Mysteryland USA.

On Saturday, April 25, join Bethel Woods Center For The Arts in celebrating festival culture through Festival Fashion—Bellbottoms and Butterfly Wings. Benefitting Bethel Woods Center For The Arts, the event is presented in collaboration with designer and musician Andy Hilfiger. Hilfiger, who has styled musical icons such as “King of Pop” Michael Jackson and punk rock originators The Ramones, will present an eclectic runway show featuring pieces from his private collection inspired by 60s-fashion that embody the spirit of the Woodstock festival while combining modern day festival fashion modeled by the fans who created them. The evening will also be co-curated by designer and stylist Twisted Lamb, consultant for chart-topping artist Kanye West and designers Norisol Ferrari and Nicola Formichetti, who will contribute outfits, styling, and modeling. A fashion journey from Woodstock to Mysteryland, enjoy a club-like atmosphere soundtracked by Steve Hash, creative director for Skrillex, with unlimited beer, wine, and hors d’oeuvres and raffles including VIP tickets to Mysteryland USA. Throughout Memorial Day weekend, Mysteryland will host a plethora of world-class talent, including live performances from Empire of the Sun, Porter Robinson, Netsky, Bob Moses, Guti, Benoit & Sergio and KiNK, and stages presented by Matthew Dear and his Subversions family, Adam Beyer and his Drumcode label, Bro Safari’s Animal House, New York nightlife leaders Verboten and Webster Hall — plus many more. There will also be an exclusive campers-only opening party on Friday, May 22 featuring Richie Hawtin, A-Trak, Josh Wink, Maceo Plex, GTA, and Tropkillaz.
