Everyone hits that point where they realize they have overplayed all the songs on their playlist. People feel the lull of skipping through their songs in hopes of something new. Well, all I have to say is happy release week!
This past week, many artists have announced collaborations and have released quality songs you can add to your playlist. Check out releases from Maggie Lindemann, Aly+AJ, Rayvon Owen and more.
Maggie Lindemann
Maggie Lindemann released her new song Obsessed this past Friday. The glittering pop gem has almost a million streams on Spotify in only 3 days! Coincidentally, this release has the same name as the campaign she announced earlier in the week. Maggie will be partnering with the luxury make-up brand, Pat McGrath for the launch of the “So Obsessed” campaign. It will be the first ever beauty brand sold through a music streaming platform; via Lindemann’s Spotify Merchbar.
The young 19 year old singer and beauty mogul goes hand in hand with the new era of social media celebrity. Choosing to pair the the song and the beauty campaign come naturally to Lindemann. It only makes sense that her song Obsessed explains how “So Obessed” she is with McGrath’s make-up and beauty products. Since this is the first-ever beauty brand sold through a music-streaming service, Maggie tweeted a video on how to access her favorite McGrath’s products through her Spotify.

Aly & AJ
Aly & AJ have finally released their highly anticipated EP, Ten Years, this past Friday. After ten long years without any new releases, the sister duo is back with a brand new, 80’s inspired, synth pop sound. This four track EP includes songs ‘Promises‘ and ‘The Distance‘ with previously released songs ‘Take Me‘ and ‘I Know‘.
These ex-Radio Disney rock stars returned to the music scene not with a groundbreaking EP but with a nostalgic EP that shows old and new Aly & AJ fans that they are back and ready. They are still singing about love and life, yet add a retro-futuristic style to show that growing up is not all so bad.

Demo Taped
ATLien Demo Taped, a 19 year old singer and song writer from Atlanta, released his new tune ‘Pack of Gum‘ last week. With the song, he explained the meaning behind it. “It’s about losing touch with someone after being in tune for a while. It’s about not wanting to be forgotten by someone you love. It’s called ‘Pack of Gum’ because when my anxiety was at it’s peak, it affected me physically. Sometimes I would get sick and so I resorted to carrying around a pack of gum at all times.”
The track has that infectious Demo Taped sound, with glitchy electronics stacked against an RnB bass line, with vocals that glide effortlessly over the synths. Demo expressed his insecurities in this song and hopes that people can connect. Everyone has at least one vice, and at one time it was gum for Demo Taped. Now, he re-found his feeling for fun with music.

Rayvon Owen
Rayvon Owen, the dreamy LA based it boy/LGBT and BLM activist, dropped his new tune ‘Volume‘ last week. This song is an absolute anthem! It is from Rayvon’s forthcoming EP. The track is about expressing who you are, living life the way you want to and not changing for anyone.
Owen has a strong presence within the LGBT community. He has done work with organizations like The Trevor Project, Human Rights Campaign and POINT Foundation. He also worked closely with current boyfriend, producer and director, Shane Bitney Crone, after the release of his documentary, ‘Bridegroom’ – which followed Shane’s heartbreaking story about the prejudice he faced from his late boyfriend’s family following his tragic death.

Olivia based her 5 track EP on what she felt, experienced, and observed from the time she spent in the past year in LA. In addition ‘No Love‘, ‘Empty‘, and ‘RIP‘, the EP contains two brand new tracks, ‘Tequilawine‘ and ‘Fuck Feelings‘. Currently, on the road, touring the States with Jack & Jack.

Yoke Lore
Yoke Lore, a Brooklyn singer & song writer, dropped a fresh new remix of Blondage’s track ‘Stoned‘ last week. Also known as Adrian Galvin, Lore has racked in millions of Spotify streams on his EPs. He also had songs featured in MTV’s The Real World and Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet and has had numerous HypeM #1 Most Popular tracks.
Being a remix, Yoke Lore explains his logic for ‘Stoned‘. “This is my first remix. I thought about it like rearranging the mosaic of a Seurat or a Renoir. All these little highly disparate elements that come together to communicate an idea or a feeling can be used in any order because of the intention with which they were placed and used. Strong and simple ideas or feelings can’t be separated from their purpose. ‘Stoned’ is strong and simple. I hope the remix only reinforces it.”

Leyya
Leyya, the Austrian duo, have just released their new song called ‘Drumsolo‘ this past week. This offbeat indie track has meandering vocals and melodies that play with contrasting textures and elements. People may say ‘Drumsolo‘ is just weird enough to groove endlessly to. Leyya created a sonic kaleidoscope with this song. The track comes from their album, Sauna, which is due this January.
