Dave Miller, Executive Director of the festival also thanked all volunteers for their efforts in making the free music festival a success. “The success and growth of this event is unparalleled and I’m so proud to be a part of this incredible group, some of our volunteers work hard all year long to help plan this event”, says Miller.
Sound of Music also congratulated Joanna Earl and Brett McCracken who received the student bursary award. The bursary awards two volunteers every year with $500 each, providing direct support to students who have enrolled in a post-secondary institution for fall admission.
Held this past June, 2014 marked the festivals 35th year. Over 230,000 people gathered to enjoy the music (which spanned several genres), carnival, food, and craft market! The festival is only possible because of the generosity of others, and is almost entirely run by volunteers and largely funded by their support partners.
