The 42nd Annual Huck Finn Jubilee will take place September 27 & 28, 2019 at the beautiful Cucamonga-Gausti Regional Park in Ontario, California. With an incredible lineup of bands, the addition of more kid-focused entertainment, and the first-ever live art competition, this year’s festival promises to create a memorable experience for all who attend.
Here are six reasons not to miss out on this year’s Huck Finn Jubilee:
1. The 2019 Huck Finn Jubilee Boasts Top-Tier Musical Acts
Huck Finn Jubilee has always maintained a balance of internationally known top-tier talent along with the best local and up-and-coming artists on the scene. The 2019 Jubilee is no exception.
Railroad Earth heads the 2019 lineup, which also features Steep Canyon Rangers, The California Honeydrops, Lindsay Lou, Dustbowl Revival, The Sweet Lillies, and Cubensis.
Railroad Earth has maintained their position as a festival headliner for many years, drawing a huge crowd of dedicated fans to each of their shows. Featuring unparalleled musicianship and songwriting, with the ability to jam and play bluegrass along with the best, Railroad Earth puts on a show that is an event not to be missed.
Grammy Award-winning Steep Canyon Rangers have been turning heads since their inception in 2000. Now recognized as leaders of the bluegrass/Americana scene, they continue to bend the parameters of these genres into their own unique style. Their most recent release “Be Still Moses,” even features the Asheville Symphony and 90’s R&B icons Boyz II Men!
When acts like The California Honeydrops and Dustbowl Revival join a festival lineup, a dance party is sure to follow. Both of these California-native bands captivate audiences with high energy, eclectic and down-right funky live performances. With mixtures of strings and horns, engaging lead vocals and unique original compositions, both the California Honeydrops and Dustbowl Revival are sure to bring the party to Huck Finn Jubilee!
Along with this impressive list of headlining talent, Huck Finn Jubilee will also be treated to performances by The Get Down Boys, Water Tower, Out of the Desert, MohaviSoul, The Devil’s Box String Band, Hot October, Honey Buckets and The Huck Finn House Party.
The Huck Finn Lineup will also feature the 2019 Battle of the Bands Winner. This year’s Battle was billed as “Beachgrass vs. Valleygrass,” featuring several contests to determine the 2019 winner who will appear on the main stage of the festival. L.A. folk band, The Storytellers, has already secured the “Valleygrass” title and awaits their competition from the beach. Next up, Mother’s Tavern in Sunset Beach, CA will be hosting the Beachgrass Battle of the Bands on September 14 & 15 to determine who will go head-to-head against The Storytellers in this epic showdown.
2. Bring the Kids: Lil’ Huckers Kid Zone and Living Folklore
Festival owners Nikki and Roger have two Lil’ Huckers of their own, and upon purchasing the festival, they vowed to maintain the welcoming environment for music lovers of all ages.
As part of this commitment to creating a festival for the entire family, Huck Finn Jubilee is free to children under 12. Huck Finn Jubilee encourages children of all ages to love, create, and share their own unique music and art.
Lil’ Huckers will love hanging at the KID ZONE which has a daily schedule of performances, workshops, face painting and more. This year, the KID ZONE will feature Living Folklore (http://www.livingfolklore.com/), a kid-focused production group featuring giant puppets, stilt-walkers, shows and other activities. Living Folklore has been a favorite at Telluride Bluegrass Festival for over 20 years and they promise to make this year’s Jubilee interactive and epic for kids and families.
Don’t miss the daily Giant Puppet Parades. Wave your flags and umbrellas, pick out a costume, and encourage the whole family to join in. This year, the parade’s theme is Alice in Wonderland, and the giant puppets and costumes will have the entire family jumping down the rabbit hole!
Giant Games are another favorite Huck Finn activity, featuring larger-than-life versions of your favorite childhood games. Challenge your friends and family to a round of Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, or join in on a rousing round of Ultimate Twister.
Participate in the daily Family Yoga classes, and truly balance your festival experience. Start your day with some sun salutations to get you ready to dance the night away.
