ULTRA Concludes Epic 2016 Tour in South America

ULTRA’s epic 2016  international tour just ended on Saturday, October 15 with a bang in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This sold out festival concluded ULTRA 2016 as its most successful year yet.  Through its myriad of phenomenal events, the festival franchise attracted more  1 million people in 2016. Additionally, over 165 million tuned in online via UMF TV’s live streaming platform, ULTRA Live, to experience the festivities from home. Moreover, the festival’s incredible after movies reached over 40 million views this year!

With its South American tour at a close, the franchise brags creating 26 one-in-a-lifetime parties in 17 countries on 5 continents!  No other festival franchise on the planet can boast this incredible achievement.

Of course, this world-shaking music festival phenomenon could wrap up its season quietly, but with a phenomenal eight stops in South America. The festival managed to host ground-breaking events across five countries in only nine days! Countries lucky enough to experience the festival included Peru, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil.

The concluding leg of the international tour in South America, which took place from October 5-17, included an exclusive and premiere event: RESISTANCE. These shows debuted in Paraguay, Peru, and Chile; all were sold out. “Road to ULTRA” also returned Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Paraguay. ULTRA’s debut in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was also sold out.

ULTRA Brazil Sells Out for Prolific Event

On Friday, October 14-October 15, the colorful city of Rio de Janeiro experienced its first visit from the world-famous ULTRA franchise. ULTRA Brazil debuted in the gorgeous Cidade Maravilhosa. Not surprisingly, this event was sold out, as it attracted more than 60,000 music lovers.  The two-day festival took place at Sambodromo, which is most well known as the site of Rio’s carnival celebrations.

Although every  ULTRA’s event is world-famous for their incredible celebrations, this year’s Rio debut was the climax of the season. Its organizers felt extremely proud over the success of Brazil’s event, regarding it as the crown jewel of the world tour. These sentiments are easy to understand, as the festival excelled in every way.

Its colossal main stage, set to the backdrop of the Corcovado and Cristo Redentor, hosted some of the world’s top musicians. Some of these headlining artists included Dash Berlin, Above & Beyond, Hardwell, Krewella, DJ Snake, Martin Garrix, and Steve Aoki. Additionally, these insane performances were accompanied by the state of the art lighting, pyrotechnic, and production.

The RESISTANCE Concept in Brazil

The festival franchise’s brand new RESISTANCE concept was also in full swing in both days in Brazil. Artists such as Hot Since 82, Tale of Us, Art Department, Anna, and Matthias Tanzmann performed the first day. This great lineup was also followed by the iconic Carl Cox, who was joined by Nic Fanciulli, Nicole Moudaber, Steve Lawler, Matador, Pan-Pot, Jon Rundell and more for another wonderful Carl Cox & Friends gathering.

Live Streaming of the Festivities

The festival’s organizers partnered with MTV Latin America to broadcast the event in Brazil to more than 50 million households in 26 South American countries live! MTV’s digital platforms in Latin America and Brazil hosted the broadcasts. In addition, primetime specials were televised from the event. Thus, festival’s guests were not the only ones able to enjoy the celebrations, but so were millions across the continent, making the event even more epic.

RESISTANCE’s debuted in 2015, and has quickly become famous for creating a unique experience worldwide. It premiered at the an ULTRA event in Buenos Aires in February of 2015. It was greeted with enormously positive responses from artists, critics and fans. Since its successful inauguration, place in Miami, South Africa, Singapore, Croatia, Japan, Bali, and Brazil have experienced RESISTANCE.

However, at the premier of ULTRA Brazil, the festival pushed the boundaries of the RESISTANCE concept even more by creating a series of three standalone RESISTANCE events in Lima, Peru, Asucion, Paraguay, and Santiago, Chile.
