FestPop sat down with Bizzey (Leo Roelandschap), Jim Aasgier (Jjim Taihuttu) and Nizzle (Nils Rondhuis) for an exclusive Yellow Claw interview:

How has your tour been and what is it like playing at different places all over the world?

It has been crazy and unreal. For three guys from a little country called The Netherlands to tour all around the world and have fans all over, it’s fucking awesome.

How did you all come together as Yellow Claw?

We met up to do a party in a pretty famous club in Amsterdam called Jimmy Woo. We started making music and things went really fast from there. We went from being a party to being a DJ team and after a year we made our first single called Allermooiste Feestje what basically means: Best party ever. We got a million views on Soundcloud within 2 weeks. We found something special.

What was your breakthrough when getting discovered?

It was the moombahton song Krokobil, a huge hit in Belgium and The Netherlands. We went from 5 shows a month to 40 shows a month; it was a crazy time where we learned a lot about hard work, making music and handling success.

What are each of your strengths in the studio and how do you work together in the studio?

Jim is a very good piano player. Bizzey writes good hooks and works a lot on beats too. A love to produce and mix shit basically. And this is basically how we work together, often in the same studio but just as often in three different studios.

What DAW do you use in the studio?

FL STUDIO 11 FOR LIFE.

What is some advice you would give to upcoming producers?

Just make the hours. It’s the only way. Produce music. Read about music. Watch tutorials about music. Read interviews with producers. etc. etc. etc. Dive in!

What is an obstacle you overcame in your musical career?

Prove yourself. As a team of artists.

What festival would you love to play at?

Coachella and Ultra!!!

What is one of your favorite festival you have played at?

EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowworld, Sunset Music Festival in Tampa.

Can you tell us something exclusive to Festpop?

We don’t like mexican food.
